The monoline tool allows us to study pure proportion and shape, to make letters that are elegant and dramatic. Study of monoline forms allows the student to understand the underlying skeleton of each hand, and to then use this knowledge to refine all other hands. Monoline forms are very useful as their expressive qualities are different from letters made with other tools.
